Geotubes. They're being used to prevent beach erosion now and are seemingly brilliant.

A hell of a lot cheaper than his deductable and repair bills.

and he is lying.
even if the soil is perfect clays, water still seeps through it(granted at a slower rate). and what about the rain. It isnt going to just not rain in his yard.
It's still a solvable problem. Create a small excavation for the water coming out of the flow net to drain into, then pump out the rest. Same with rain runoff. If he has dropped $8-10k into this aquadam, he can spend another couple hundred in hoses and pumping.
I really doubt the water seeping in will cause any long term issues like piping or sand boils.

if he can prove (which i think he can in this case) that it saved the insurance company a ton of money, he should be able to bill the cost back to them (in my make believe common sense world)
Don't you understand how insurance works? He didn't save the insurance company any money. He saved himself money. The insurance company has already made that money off of him 10 fold, and would justify a premium increase very shortly after his claim to double down on the amount they are making from him. the insurance company never loses money. Congress has made sure of that.

The only way he saves any further money is by cancelling his insurance policy.
