I love BSL, and I know the area pretty well, and it hurts me to say you're pretty spot on.

Agreed. Gautier is okay. Vancleave? Lol. OS is really the only one.

If you can afford back bay Ixolib, then that. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it.

We had a place on Henderson Point. It was fricking great. Katrina really wrecked shite down there.

It's hickville. It's basically the eastern equivalent of Hancock County.

Mother in law was in an amazing house in BSL on the beach road. Nothing left. Wife grew up sailing at the PCYC. I remember driving down there in October of 2005 and you couldn't recognize anything.

I'll save it for the 10 year Katrina threads, but it was astounding.

I live in Ocean Springs. I wouldnt recommend anywhere else in the area. OS has everything you want, bars, festivals, good schools and a decent housing market.

apparently, everyone in Mississippi smokes all the time. convenience store workers with a cigarette burning in an ashtray by the register while taking my money makes no sense to me. other than that, it's fine

So... quick question. Ocean Springs is furthest out from where I'm hoping to be, and Pascagoula is closest. But Google times them to my potential worksite (county further inland) at the same time. Is Pascagoula just really slow to travel through for some reason?

Ocean Springs is probably what you want

I graduated and live in St. Martin (when I'm not in BR for school) which is sandwiched right between OS and Vancleave, and it's the best spot available in my own biased opinion. Education is the best you'll find on the coach, good location, good place to start a family.

But Google shows St Martin even further west than Ocean Springs?

Not bad. Just that southern MS has become home for my family and me. Received a job offer that I feel like I have to at least consider.
