Why would you go to Beaver Lake when you could go to Table Rock Lake and Top of the Rock just 30 - 45 minutes north?

We considered Table Rock, but this seemed like a better area.

It's only 45 minutes tops from Big Cedar Lodge (Table Rock) to Beaver Lake/Eureka Springs. I make the drive all the time. I love canoeing the Kings River in Eureka Springs and hiking Devil's Den. My favorite camp spot is at Haw Creek Falls about an hour south of Harrison.

I know NW AR.

However, Beaver Lake and Eureka don't remotely compare to the scenery of Table Rock and the awe inspiring Top of the Rock/Big Cedar Lodge area.

Something tells me you haven't been to Top of the Rock because if you had you wouldn't have made your silly claim.

yeah, just what I thought: You've never been to Table Rock, Big Cedar Lodge, and you've most certainly never been to Top of the Rock.

LOL.

I spend a LOT of time in SW Missouri and NW Arkansas, and although I agree that NW Arkansas (just like SW MO) is indeed very pretty, it doesn't remotely compare to the Big Cedar Lodge/Top of the Rock experience.

Regardless, enjoy your time. Just know that only 45 minutes northeast you're missing a one of kind experience that's annually voted a Top 10 destination in the US (and I'm not talking about Branson).

No, I haven't been to either place (thus, this thread). And I wasn't making any claims about the greatness or shortcomings of either place.

Can you provide a link to one of those top ten lists that includes Table Rock and I'll take a look? We'll have another trip next year.

Please reference my post directly above.

You don't get that in NW Arkansas. NWAR is certainly scenic and has wonderful places to visit, but no place in NWAR compares to the Table Rock Lake, Top of the Rock, Big Cedar Lodge experience.

Big Cedar Lodge/Top of the Rock are annually listed as a Top 5 lodge destination...in the world!

Big Cedar Lodge/Top of the Rock Accolades

Listen, I like to bullshite around more often than not, but when it comes to SW Missouri and NW Arkansas I know what I'm talking about.

NW Arkansas is wonderful and very pretty. So is SW Missouri. It truly depends on what you want.

If you want isolation but somewhat close access to entertainment, Beaver Lake/Eureka Springs should be your choice.

If you want a perfect mixture of scenic beauty, fishing, boating, entertainment, and top notch resorts...Table Rock Lake/Big Cedar Lodge/Top of the Rock should be considered.

Also, consider this...Top of the Rock is a public place. You don't have to be a resort guest to enjoy Top of the Rock. Therefore, if you choose to stay near Beaver Lake, you and your friends could drive 45 minutes northeast to Top of the Rock for an incredible lunch and golf just to see what it's like in person.

There's no place in the US like Top of the Rock. There's a reason the PGA has contracted with Top of the Rock to host the Champions Tour "Legends of Golf" tournament for the foreseeable future.

Golf legends such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, and many others all remark that Top of the Rock is one of the most spectacular places they've ever golfed.

"The Legends of Golf is one of my favorite events to play in each year. As a two-time winner, I am thrilled to tee up with my friend Jack Nicklaus at Big Cedar Lodge’s Top of the Rock in what should be a fantastic tournament." - Gary Player

“Big Cedar Lodge should be a wonderful host site for the tournament and I look forward to seeing how Top of the Rock is received by some of the best players in today’s game,” Nicklaus said.

“Johnny Morris has been very passionate during the development of the course, and we’re pleased with the golf experience created. I hope my friends and fellow pros on Tour will find it to be an enjoyable test of golf.”

“The Legends of Golf and Champions Tour both share a history of being innovative and engaging properties, and that legacy will certainly continue here at Big Cedar Lodge with the introduction of a Par-3 golf course in official competition,” Finchem said. “If there was ever a Par-3 course worthy of PGA TOUR tournament play, Top of the Rock is it. It truly is an outstanding venue and a wonderful complement to the newly redesigned Buffalo Ridge course. We believe the inclusion of this dramatic short course will demonstrate to a time-crunched world that par-3 golf is fun, entertaining, and a worthy alternative for golfers. We thank Johnny Morris, Governor Nixon, and MasterCard for their support of this popular event and are excited to present a refreshing new concept to our players and fans.”

So, a couple questions.

Bars/restaurants to hit? We're thinking Bubba's... WTF is that? You want a hidden jewel? Tony C's Italian Restaurante. Tony's a character of a guy in our area, plays up his Italian heritage, owns the strip clubs in the area. Restaurant is ran by his wife who's a smokeshow for her age and is a super-sweet lady. It's in Prairie Creek, just outside of Rogers on Hwy 12. It's a townie bar and a darn good steak and Italian restaurant. Friday and Sat. nights they have their steaks until they sell out, cut fresh each day. Get the crab ravioli, you won't be disappointed.

Hiking places to check out? Love trails with good views, waterfalls, and what not. You can't go wrong with any of the trails around here, there's too many to mention. A popular one is the short hike to Whittaker Point (Hawksbill Crag).

Are there any places on the lake where people either gather to party (on the water or on a beach?) Eh, there's not particularly any one certain spot in Beaver Lake, there's lot of coves and areas to chill, you're not gonna find sandy areas like on Lake Michigan or an island like Mackinac. Beaver's more laid back and has more fishermen that dopes out cruising around.

Anything else to know about?

I'm guessing that we need to stock up on our booze before we get to the cabin, but would there be any issues with us drinking said booze on the lake?

There a ton of liqour stores in Benton County now. You won't be able to miss them. Sunday booze you can get in Springdale or Eureka. Even Boone county coming into Arkansas from Branson is wet now. Like I said you've been given bad info.

Please don't trash our state, don't leave your waste, don't act like an a-hole, don't pull over on the side of the road and pick wildflowers from our fields and take photos of our horses, cattle, donkeys, etc. Don't go fishing, hunt arrowheads or hike on private property without asking first. Use common courtesy and we'll likely let you do whatever you want, and don't ask us for meth or weed.

Feel free to do all of those things in Table Rock. We'll gladly take your money and ask you to come back again!

Choose wisely!

the difference between Big Cedar and Top of the Rock is it's a timeshare resort and Beaver Lake isn't going to be that. Beaver's cabins are just that little mom and pop ran rentals that are far more laid back and private.

OP you also lucked out on your timing as Walmart's shareholder meeting is the week before and it's a super clusterfrick around here during that week.

Top of the Rock isn't a resort. TotR is a restaurant, bar, golf, museum, and entertainment complex designed around nature unlike any place in the US.

Big Cedar

Big Cedar has timeshares on the property but there are private cabins and lodges located on the original campus.

Like I said...it depends on what you want. If you just want isolation with somewhat close access to small town bars, Beaver Lake/Eureka Springs is your choice.

If you want a full experience that includes both isolation, fishing, nature, entertainment, golf, and breathtaking scenery, Table Rock Lake/Big Cedar/Top of the Rock is your choice.

Don't make me get Latarian involved in this debate. You know which area he'll support, right?

There are at least 3 coves that people hang out in on a regular basis that are pretty much only accessible by boat.

I like to fish with jugs and live bait while hanging out on the dock (normally rent a cabin with a doc). I catch small-mouth bass, strippers and catfish with live shiners and crayfish. I believe most of the guides are strippers and crappie guides.

We have a great time, very pretty and the water is perfect. I prefer when the lake is low so there are more rock jumping options.

Sounds like next time I will be going to check out table rock for a day.
