Signs on I-10 recommending this route as a detour

Well damn, I was holding out hope only a handful of people were going to know this route.

Looks like it's going to be a long drive tomorrow.

There is a bridge crossing the Sabine at the TX/LA border not a ferry. You should be fine going that way. You'll pass the Chenniere LNG facility just before you get to the border.

Don't see a ferry nor can I find any info on one.

Ferry is in Cameron. If you take 27 north you'll miss it. According to LA DOT the ferry is still operating. 82 through Holly Beach is probably the best bet aside from I20 and a night in Shreveport. Does anyone know the weight/size limits if any on 82 through Holly Beach?

Cruising down 27 to 82. About an hour detour. Beats going through Dallas to get to Port Arthur

If anybody absolutely needs to get across the Sabine River without a gigantic detour, you can go down to Johnson Bayou and take the ferry across. Have to take Hwy 27 South in Sulphur down to Holly Beach and head west on Hwy 82

You don't take the ferry if you go south thru Sulphur. The ferry is between Cameron and Holly Beach.

Also, Hwy 190 is still closed at Merryville. The first open road across into Texas headed north is Hwy 6 from Many across Toledo Bend.

Interstate 10 at the Sabine River, near the Texas State Line, will close to traffic at 9 a.m. due to flooding.

Radio station in Orange says it's not closed yet, but the new scheduled close time is 9a.

No speculation of how long it'll be closed.

Think they can get 4 on the ferry at a time?

I have to drive from BR to Houston tomorrow and back on Sunday.

Anyone know if this route is possible?

From what I understand the dam at South Toledo Bend is still open. Would be the closest route north of i-10.
