Sunshine Bridge still just one lane each way?

I wonder why they would only open up one lane each way? What’s the difference? I would imagine a few more cars would be a small percentage of weight compared to the bridge itself. Kinda feel like it should either be open or closed due to unsafe conditions. Someone enlighten me...

Because they are still working on the other lanes with massive new pieces of the bridge blocking the 2 lanes (I drove over it twice yesterday)

Because it has alleviated much of the traffic jam that was caused at the Veterans Bridge/3127 intersection and the long delays it added to HWY 20 through Thibodaux

Yes it’s open and you won’t be able to go more than 45 on it. Cops on both sides of the bridge and they’ll shut it down if people start going over 45. So do us all a favor and don’t go over 45 otherwise you’ll be responsible for a huge cluster frick. Thank you!
