I once asked the OT a similar question. They recommended I get a steroid shot at the doc to clear it all up.
They were right. Don't think about it. Go get the shot. Enjoy that vacation :)

If you are diagnosed with strep throat... test positive on a rapid throat swab or throat culture, the approved and most effective treatment is an IM injection of bicillin (penicillin) 1.2 million units. This will usually render you non-contagious in as little as 12 hours.
An injection of rocephin and steroid is a common treatment for sinusitis at these jack-in-the-box medical clinics... which is actually not the correct way to adequately treat a sinus infection.

Last time I had strep I was 100% 24 hours after I took the antibiotic. Get the pill go to work and enjoy your trip.
