It's been rampant among news organizations ever since they moved from being "reporters" to being "journalists". I'm just surprised they didn't describe the two who voted against this in terms like "one, a mother of three who loves knitting scarves for the homeless; the other, a black man descended of slaves who represents a poor, black section of the parish struggling to survive while the rest of the parish flourishes."
