it's too close to 4 major int'l hubs to support that
Right. It's a destination airport and not a hub. The population/industry doesn't necessitate the need for it to become an international hub at this point either.

Aruba airport is right on the water. while the beach stops, you can be in a boat, and the plane is nearly touchable.(boats from renaissance hotel will stop and let you watch, while going to their private island)

Never been to St. Maarten, but they say the Dutch side is 10x better than the french side.

girls get up on the sea wall and wave their boobs at you while landing, if you flash your nose light the first drink is free at that little bar

Awesome. If they've got a cruise ship in port, you can see some pretty good talent.

You want a crazy landing? Commute from St Maarten to St Bart's on one of Winairs Twin Otters. After you bank around the large hill beside the airport, you damn near nose dive to the short runway. They have to to keep from running out of runway and across the beach into the ocean. I had read about it before hand and knew what to expect but it was still intense to all passengers on board.

Delta starts scheduled service to CUN in 2 days,
I could only get it to price out the first flight on 3/7. Not good that their inaugural flight couldn't sell out a MD-88 @ $200/ticket.

Delta did have quite a bit of L-1011 and DC-8 traffic in and out of MSY as recently as the '80's, but they were on domestic routes, and they did operate 747s a long time ago(pre NWA merger,) they leased them from my company, EWE chartered a 747 from MSY-CDG in the '80's but I can't remember who the operator was

Belize City Airport, meh.

If the tide comes up two feet, it's gone.

Obviously it can't handle big jets.

I've landed and taken off from that runway in Belize. Waves on the close end of the runway as we took off.

Y'all think that's nuts? Wait till y'all see how low this plane in this vid is. LINK

Granted, it's a smaller plane but it's still pretty fricking low.
