In reference to the 51%...for the voters in the St. George area...if 10k people vote...only 5001 have to be in favor and poof...City of St. George. Does NOT have to be 51% of the total voters...for shits sake

So the 6k students Russian is referencing live in St George now or go to school in St George now?

Alright? I was referencing the previous two decades that were funded before Juban Crossing or Bass Pro.

Mutual aid agreements aren't going anywhere.
Why would the taxpayers of Baton Rouge agree to have their city police patrol in another city which doesn't pay for it?

It's called MUTUAL aid. It's in both parties best interest.
This is what your arguments degrade to when you can't hide the fact you had no idea SG residents are already paying for sheriff's protection. Carry on.

They go to EBR public schools now outside of what would be the SG school district but they currently live in St George. They would be forced to change schools since they would no longer live in the EBR school district if SG forms its own school district. LINK

All of this is probably moot because the entire parish of EBR would get to vote on that change.

So even if SG forms its own city to satisfy the few real estate salesmen and public building architects pushing for it, it is unlikely for a new school district to be passed by the state's and EBR voters.

So what you're saying is, they would get to attend schools closer to home. That sounds terrible!

The 6200 is a misleading number. Not all are magnet students. Some may be better wherever they end up.

Not necessarily. That's an assumption on your part.

With one public HS in all of St.George, and no schools anywhere south of I-10, I'm comfortable with that statement.

What's misleading about it? Do you have another link that has a different number?

No this shows the two people on here that truly have stated many facts that have come true on this board, about this subject see that you are a blind supporter. With a bunch of if's and butts. The money will continue to dry up and to support a school system will be impossible without raising taxes through the roof. It's always been about a city always no matter what you think. What about Woodlawn will change if it's moved to another school district? It will be the exact same students. The bottom half of the income spectrum as all the higher end income families send their kids to private school. Nothing will change period. So why need a new school system if the long range goal isn't a city. Please explain.

How would it be in the mutual interest of Baton Rouge taxpayers to have their city police patrolling in another city that doesn't pay taxes for those police? It wouldn't be. Therefore the cooperative police agreement would end. That's a fact, not an opinion. The same for the cooperative agreement with the BRFD and the unincorporated fire districts that serve St George.

Just stop. While it seems to make you feel better to lie about my knowledge of the sheriff's department, it's still just a lie.

I posted an analysis of the sheriff's resources in SG vs. BRPD in January. I KNOW what resources the sheriff has for SG. LINK

I don't know if you're being sarcastic..... EBRPSS is 85% black. The under 18 population in SG is 50/50......

Russian, why are you against the St. George breaking away?

I'm not flaming, just curious. If the community decides to incorporate legally then what's the issue?

The one you posted was sufficient. It said 6200 total students. 6000 could attend a D rated school for all we know.

You brought this up, not me.

I'm sure some will be. Just not sure with the data you presented if it will be enough to sway a vote. No doubt Central and Zachary had kids attending BR High when they split
