make sure I wasn't paying something outrageous and wasn't buying something that was unnecessary. I'm fully confident I can replace it myself but just wanted some help picking one out. TIA
Let me help you out almost all normal wet cell batteries come from the same plants. you are paying for the warranty and ease to exchange if you need to use said warranty
ETA, also pay attention to how the warranty is handled, replacement, prorate, etc...

Replacing a car battery is probably the easiest car maintenance activity there is.
Step 1) remove old battery
Step 2) put new battery in
Step 3) get a beer to celebrate your hard work
Unless you have a 2014 Chevy Silverado gonna need a few more tools and extra set of hands to get that fricker in there. I wanted to beat an engineers arse when I had to change mine out a few years ago

Nope. Mines easy enough to get to. Like I said previously two guys at Autozone couldn't even find it and were trying to connect to a completely different component.

I had to show the guy at Autozone where it was. He had initially hooked the testing device up to the alternator thinking it was the battery.

Yeah some of the new cars/batteries arent like used to be. Some cars even have two batteries that need to be replaced
