The U.S. spends literally more than four times the next country on education, but we are routinely considered middling in terms of education of our children.

It's basically there to show the most effective (to them) ways to not only teach, but handle a classroom through appropriate means.

Definitely not disagreeing, just answering the purpose of an education degree.
I believe that education should become a minor program to whatever you major in.
For example you become a math major and take basic education classes for certification.

I'd rather just hire a college graduate who majored in chemistry, biology, etc who has 3.5 overall gpa rather than this education junk

Yeah, I like that idea...minimum 18 hours.
I just finished a 6 month online course in order to get my certification. That was enough

You shouldn't have any problem with it. It's covers a pretty broad range of history, but you should be more than familiar with it. The only people I know who struggled with it were education majors.

Like PublicEnemy said, a lot of educational theories, teaching methods, adolescent development, etc. There is a lot of meaningless busy work when it comes to education degrees. There is no universal approach to these bad arse kids lol. Just make them laugh, let yourself become the center of their harmless jokes, put forth a genuine effort, show a passion for your field, and the rest falls into place. Every class is different.
