I also say it's probably obesity and chemical exposure. Obesity also affects fertility in women as well.

There's an evolutionary reason for that. For most of recorded history, 40 year olds had adult sons. There's no evolutionary advantage to competing with your sons for mates. There is an evolutionary advantage to your grandchildren having an extra provider/caretaker.

Those two things work together. Some chemicals mimic estrogen. Some are fat soluble. If a chemical is both, it will build up in your fat cells, so it's best not to have too many of those.

It's still in some plastics. Just not really seen with anything food grade. Public concern actually led to manufacturers finding an alternative before the FDA considered enforcement.
