if it’s in Louisiana that’s 100% what will happen. They don’t give a shite as long as they get their money.
I'm laughing at attorneys.
No professional is more protective of their industry than attorneys.
(Have you ever read on a message board "this is not legal advice" or "I'm not an attorney"?)
And here is an attorney giving out advice on what insurance companies do and don't do.
If you pay the ticket, it gets reported to the motor vehicle report. Even a seatbelt infraction (which is actually a moving violation. No one gets a ticket for not wearing a seat belt before they crank up the car).
You know what else shows up on motor vehicle reports?
Failure to appear.
License suspensions.
Commercial license disqualifications.
I can't tell you how many times an attorney gave out bad advice on what insurance companies can and can't do. People have been in tears based on that shitty advice.
I laugh at the irony.

The cop not showing up thing is a solid “it depends”.
It can go either way.
My person ticket was dismissed for the cop not showing up and the judge ruled “not guilty” and dismissed.

Don’t fight the speed. Fight the moving violation. Keep it off insurance.

Contest it in court and ask the prosecuting attorney for a deal to reduce it down to a non-moving violation that doesn’t add points to your driving records.
I got pinched once for going 97 mph in a 35 mph zone. Took it to court and asked the attorney to reduce it down to a non-moving violation since it was my first ticket. She reduced it down to a minor misdemeanor which is basically nothing.

I would screenshot the life 360 and then go and talk to the DA. They typicallyy have some kind of “safety” program where they will let you pay some extra to keep it from going on your record. It is going to be pricey because you were going 10+ over. You do have a little bit of leverage because the fact that they clocked your speed incorrectly could invalidate a whole hell of a lot of tickets that were writtten to other people.

RADAR/LIDAR devices are required to be periodically calibrated. There may be a sticker on the tool indicating its last calibration check, otherwise, there should be a record. If the department has not adhered to the recommended maintenance schedule, it may be a way to challenge the accuracy of the speed cited on your ticket.
