Add the bacon and remove the chili and I wish I could upvote more than once. But my heart is glad I live 8 hours away.
Never had a burger before where you couldn't even see the massive burger underneath the fries and onion rings covering it. First time was a Religious experience.

I lived there 3 years. Rented a house in the big neighborhood that has the Fresh Market near it. Forgot the name now, like Columbia Heights or something. I enjoyed the quiet life there for the time I was in graduate school. BTW, Spartanburg has 8 colleges/universities. It's very close to Asheville NC and Greenville SC and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The friends I had made the time one of the most memorable of my life so I'll always look back on Spartanburg as a great place to be (under the right conditions).

Clemson is there. Greenville. If you like the outdoors your set.

Another vote for Greenville over Spartanburg. Nothing necessarily against Spartanburg, but I like Greenville better. Traffic is a bitch though.
And to the poster who suggested Landrum, I agree. Great little town. I was up there a couple months ago. Had dinner at Stone Soup, and was surprised to have that quality of food in a town that small. Tons of wineries in that general area as well, along with equestrian activities out the wazoo if you're in to that sort of thing.
