There was a risk to COVID for some (elderly, those with multiple other illnesses) but the media presentation of risk to most was propaganda.

Those parents are idiots. As long as everyone was vaccinated and got boosters regularly, they could go outdoors with fitted N-95 masks and be relatively safe. No need to live in fear.
