Did the south cease to exist in the late 1800s

They talk about Virginia wine country but I feel the Georgia wine country North of ATL, South of Chattanooga is fantastic

Great little weekend getaway

John Bell Hood, not to be confused with our former governor.

Seriously? That's the first I've heard of this!

Has it? I haven't been to Biloxi in a long time, but that's good to hear. We usually took the extra couple of hours to go to Gulf Shores instead because the beaches were nicer. If it's as improved as you say maybe we'll go there for our next beach trip. My son hasn't been to the beach yet, we were planning on taking him for the first time this summer.

Our beaches are nice. Our water is the same, because of the islands. If you go to the islands the water is beautiful

Biloxi-Gulfport is a better for adults than kids, Gulf Shores has a lot more kid friendly thing to do

Coastal Mississippi is great! Go the first week in October for Cruisin the Coast. See cool cars and the towns show out. Ocean Springs is a great place to live Great down town area with a Mayberry type of feel to it. Great fishing as well. Ship Island is where you to if you want to play in the water. Crystal Blue water and White Sand. I love it down there.

Over the years, I have made 5-6 trips to Terlingua. It's a fabulous place to do nothing....

Residents must have really good retirement income plus SS.

The cemetery is where old hippies go to die. [kinda like Tarzan/Jane elephant graveyard]. Tombstones date back 150 years. Graves are decorated with beer cans and whisky bottles. Military graves for some reason are covered with quarters and dimes. Plastic flowers are encouraged

The General store/theatre/restraurant is a great place to sit, read a book, watch the sunset, listen to guitar players and pet the dogs. A beer will cost 3 dollars, but you can buy a 6 pac for 10 and the store will allow keeping undrunk beers in their cooler

There is no fence by the river and it is typically ankle deep. Illegals are not a problem because the Mexico side is very rugged mountains/desert

It's probably the most mercury contaminated several hundred square miles of property in the United States. Terlingua was established to mine mercury... and dug up plenty of it for use in making mercury fulminate a military explosive.

Do not go near there in the summer, way to hot, I will probably go again in November

As someone considering a move back to Knoxville I hate seeing the secret really starting to get out. Don’t want the word getting out to too many people that it’s no longer a dumpy hillbilly town it’s been caricatured as for decades by outsiders.

Affordable cost of living, great suburbs and elite park systems, very limited “hood” parts that are easily avoidable, clean and charming entertainment district downtown that is pretty segregated from the UT students having fun in their little bubble closer to campus, blossoming cuisine scene, good public school systems and churches to plug into, the inspiringly beautiful scenery East Tennessee provides, generally friendly af old school Southern people, ect

By the time you take the boat ride to the islands you could be sitting in the sand of Pensacola Beach. We realized this after one of our many trips from BR to Ship Island.
