where it was left in lunar orbit (almost certainly all crashed, confirmed in most cases, but the Eagle (Apollo 11) is curiously missing.)
Another tidbit, Snoopy (LM from Apollo 10, the dress rehearsal for the real landing) dropped the descent stage which possibly (probably?) hit the lunar surface, but the ascent stage(the crew module) is almost certainly now known as Asteroid 2018 AV2. At the very least scientific consensus is growing on that conclusion.
Apollo 12's LM (Intrepid) was deliberately crashed on the surface after the landing, as was 14's (Antares), 15's (Falcon) and 17's (Challenger). Apollo 13's LM (Aquarius) was used as a lifeboat during the in-flight emergency that aborted that mission's planned landing. It was destroyed when it re-entered the Earth's atmosphere. Jim Lovell famously said upon undocking, "Farewell, Aquarius, and we thank you." From Apollo 12 onward, the plan was to deliberately crash the LM to calibrate seismographic equipment and not merely waste the device after its intended use was over.
Apollo 16's LM, Orion, was left in lunar orbit likely due to crew error, but crashed into the lunar surface almost a year later.
Apollo 11's ascent stage, The Eagle, which, if recovered would be, by far, the most valuable piece of manmade equipment, is unaccounted for after all these years. There was speculation as recently as last year that by various quirks of chance, the math (and lack of an identifiable, feasible impact crater along projected orbital paths) supports a possibility the Eagle is in a stable (at least for the Moon) equatorial lunar orbit of about 125km.

You know it was designed to operate in 1/6 gravity, right? Why would they test that on Earth?
How the do they know the gravity if they've never been?

Do you understand the entire concept of the CSM and LM dichotomy? The CSM was the mothership that took the entire crew and the LM to the Moon, the LM itself had 2 stages, leaving the descent stage on the surface, returning to the CSM where it was left in lunar orbit (almost certainly all crashed, confirmed in most cases, but the Eagle (Apollo 11) is curiously missing.)
Only the CSM came back to Earth (in most cases, obviously the whole contraption had to come back in 13's case) and only the command module re-entered the atmosphere, as it was the only piece of equipment designed to do so.
They could have been in a 1in steel case. It doesn't matter one bit because they didn't go. The LM on the moon was foil and duct tape. Come on man. Men before them stated it was garbage.

Read what you typed here, out loud, to yourself. It doesn't make any sense. If it was all faked, then it was all faked. Buzz and Neil were already heroes from Gemini.
"in case something happened"
In case the astronots didn't come back they still had Buzz and Neil. The Russians did the exact same thing.
The moon landing is pure lunacy.
If we were capable of sending man in outer orbit we would have done so after that mission. The fact we haven't leaves anyone with a brain to question the entire thing. Unless you have been to the moon you don't know. The science doesn't matter because we couldn't go back if we wanted to.
I get it. It's patriotic to think we beat the Russians there in the space war and yet we've never been out of the atmosphere since. Come on guy. Nasa even admits we aren't capable of doing it. But whatever. It doesn't matter what any of us think because we still can't get out of orbit. People died trying before and after but in 1969 2 people landed on the moon and we've yet to send another human out of orbit. It's a joke. Nasa lied before and they'll lie again. The government, the military and every other agency has lied to American people but this was real. Give me a break man.

What if the astronauts did come back?
