Chicken of the trees: Eating Florida's iguanas

While many people view South Florida’s invasive iguana population as an annoyance at best and a pandemic at worst, Ishmeal Asson sees something else: lunch.

He said he sells the meat to customers and restaurants across the United States, offering boneless meat for $59.99 per pound and whole, skin-on iguana for $49.99.

You can stock up at the local pet store for cheaper than this.

Sheesh. I'm in the wrong business.

When we were in Costa Rica we stopped at this one resort to eat lunch while we were driving from a rainforest to a volcano resort

There were at least 5 LARGE iguanas in every fricking tree around us

I dont think i looked at my food once while I was eating because I was so wary of those bastards

I used to fly to San Juan a lot, don't know what it was but at certain times of the year there would be just literally thousands of them laying out on the taxiway when you would clear the runway, they damn sure weren't scared of a 757 because they wouldn't budge but when we approached them, but when we called out the locals to move them off they were mighty respectful of a Ford Ranger because those guys would come out there and start busting caps in there asses until they would move, they would pick those things up and put them in the back of the truck, some of those looked like they were 6-7 feet long, much longer than the guys picking them up
