Is it half as good as the real thing? I can't imagine it being satisfying

Might as well put condoms on your eyes. Just look at it, pussy.

Pinhole projectors prevent people from putting up with those pesky POS statues

Just put your phone on selfie mode, turn your back to eclipse, and point over your shoulder.

I'd rather not see anything than stand in the hundred degree heat staring at a piece of cardboard.

Or just watch a live stream. There's gonna be about 50 of them.

I made one for an eclipse in 1986 and it worked very well. I even took pics of the changes of the light dot. Was a little distracted by the darkness, sudden windy and cold condition that occurred for a minute or so. We could have an eclipse for the whole summer, that would make me happy.

So you are a fan of nuclear winter?

I had the year wrong, it was 1984. Not a fan of nuclear winter, but really not a fan of the heat in the south.

Light passes through the pinhole and the eclipse projects onto a piece of paper inside a dark box or tube.

Why not?
When did you experience it to make a judgement?

The light that shines through the tree foliage will take on a crescent shape as the eclipse progresses. Same concept.
