They had "étouffée" for chow one night. I was excited till they put it on my plate. When I sat down, one of my drill Sgt. came up and said,"that's not what you thought it was,was it private?" I went to parade rest,"no,drill Sgt!" He busted out laughing and walked away

The best-the senior drill Sgt of another company was from Bossier. My drill sgts told him, that I said, everyone from bossier was trash. So the senior drill Sgt sent a private to fetch me. My drills acted like they knew nothing. I got smoked for a solid hour in the pit. When I got done, he bought me coke and we talked about Shreveport-bossier for a bit. So he sent me away, but on the way back he called my drill Sgt and told him he bought me a coke. Got smoked when I got back.

In the AF it's a four year controlled tour.

It still remember SSgt Johnson like it was yesterday. About a 5'10 black dude built like a powerlifter. Just big for no goddamn reason. He actually chewed out the TSgt he was training one time to become an MTI one morning infront of all the flights. shite was hilarious.

I got smart with him one time in the DFAC for pushing the amount of Gatorade I had on my tray to the max. I was right and he was like your not bad trainee H... Then he proceeded to chug my gatorades glasses right in my face.

About 2 years later at my first duty station at Ramstein I see the fricker in the gym and every time we crossed paths it was a staredown.

I also hated all blue ropes. They just smoked us for no fricking reason all the time and had this big black body builder MTI kick the door to our bays off the hinges bc my friend read the name off his CAC backwards. He said do we drink beers together motha frickaa then booooom, bye bye metal door. Proceeded to smoke all 45 of us in 10x10 room for about 25mins while calling himself the devil asking if we want to dance with the (him) or walk with jesus( our MTI). Bc we were making our MTI look bad. This was with fricking 10 days left in training.

fricking awesome. He was my DS as well (E 2/58 Fall of '03).

"RANGE WALK, DICK! RAAAAAAANGE WALK!" All while rocking his head back and forth. He had that sweet gold tooth in the front that only black guys can pull off.

Went to 'Lost in the Woods' in Jan of 88..... fricking coldest I've every been. Don't remember my Sr DI but he was a short scary mf'er! But SSG Houston from our PLT was runner up.

Hated the most.... the damn wanna be DIs that we had at AIT. All females and weren't worth a damn. I knew that even as a PV1.

We didn't have any females nor did we even see any females other than the little old Korean ladies who worked in the mess hall. After about week 5 or so they started looking pretty damn good.

This changed however around week 10 when they sent in a batch of what they called "Drill Cadets". They were West Point cadets that were attached to us as part of their training. They were sort of like drill sgt assistants. They did things like lead us in PT, close order drill, and things like that. The drill cadet they attached to my platoon was a female, guessing she was about 20-21, and at least at that time was the most beautiful creature I'd ever laid my eyes on. Only problem was she was a total bitch and worse yet, a bitch on a power trip.

Still, when we were doing PT and I, being in the front rank was only feet away from her in her little summertime PT uniform leading us in doing the groin stretch, didn't seem to mind very much. I could almost see her panties and for a horny as hell 17 yr old who had gone weeks with zero female contact, that was almost heaven. I remember hoping she'd scoot up towards us just a bit so I could just catch a whiff of her.

Fort Benning Georgia - Drill Sergeant Hamby. A mean little bow-legged MF'er. He had the Napoleon complex big time. You could feel that SOB's presence without even seeing him.

The other drill sergeant was nice but ripped soldiers off. About two weeks before graduation he had the platoon leader tell us a sob story about his sister and how he needed money for her. "It had no bearing on your graduation and he would pay you back before we left".

A lot of the guys were so scared about him affecting their graduation they ponied up. We never even saw him again. He was probably on vacation in the Caribbean with his new-found riches.

Will NEVER forget DS Dixon, Ft Jackson, SC in 1992. This dude was just mean and did not chill over the 8 weeks we had him, he stayed hard.

One day at the range, I finished shooting and they had us sitting off to the side while we waited for everyone else. I get up to go to the latrine and left my kevlar with a buddy, it was 15 feet away. When I returned my buddy said Dixon took it. I went to him to ask for it but he had no clue where it was, but thought that tree over there probably knew and I should go ask it. I'm guessing here, but the wood line was at least a couple hundred yards away, or at least it felt like it. I ran over to the tree asked for my helmet and ran back. He looked at me and said "wrong tree". After about 10 trips he smoked me for about another 10 minutes and gave me back my helmet.

Ahhh, the good times.

Drill Sgt Kobb, Fort Knox!! Dude was a clone of Sgt Slaughter.

Are Fort Benning and Fort Knox still male only? You can always tell the difference between soldiers who come from basic out of those two vs soldiers who came from Jackson, Leonard Wood and Sill...all coed.

I went through Knox in 1988. At that time the training there was split between the Armor School on one side of base that was all male. This is where the tankers, cavalry scouts, and tank mechanics were all trained. Tankers and Scouts had OSUT while the tank mechanics had AIT. I went through the Armor School as a Cav Scout.

On the other side of the base there was standard basic training for non-combat arms MOS's. I think it was like 8 weeks long and when the privates graduated there they left and went to whatever base taught their MOS's AIT. For example the guys who were going into a tank mechanic MOS would move over to the Armor School side of Knox for their AIT while those going into something like commo would go to Ft. Gordon for their AIT. I never went over to that side of base but I believe they had females there.

We had a drill cadet on a serious power trip. The drill sergeants finally broke him down in front of us, for screaming at us for not saluting him. Told him he wasn't in the real Army yet and to STFU.
