They would, and we all would be better served if we just got all the Christian pastors of these communities together to hold tent revivals in the middle of those areas and preached the actual unapologetic full fledged Gospel, complete with accountability and redemption (hope). If anything is ever going to change with this violent crime, then it’s not going to be at a basketball game, but it will begin in the heart. That’s what needs to change, not becoming a better basketball player.

There was a shooting at the rec center across from Lake Highlands High School in Dallas back in the 90's. One guy got mad at a guy on the other team, went to his car, came back in with a gun and shot him.
I used to go there a lot. Never thought about something like that happening there then. It's right down the street, and around the corner, from where Morgan Fairchild (pics below) grew up. That park is known for it's Frisbee golf course.
I played at a couple of other small four-on-four city park outdoor courts where I might have expected a shooting. Those courts were close to Skyline high. It was a hood court where Larry Johnson made an occasional appearance. I played on a Hoop-It-Up team with one of his Skyline teammates. There was a contingent of Vietnamese dudes that would run you to death. I'm only 5'9", but got to play inside when I'd go over on a weekday and play there during the day. That was the only time I ever saw them there. I played with guys I worked with there every Sat. morning. Into my 30's, used to burn vacation days, half a day at a time, to go play basketball with Lem and his crew.

My Kemp signs kept getting stolen in Grant Park. I got tired of it.
