Slingtv is a Roku channel. Roku calls Slingtv, HBOGo, Netlix, etc. "channels," but they're really apps with icons on the Roku UI. You click the Slingtv channel icon and it brings you into the app... From there you can scroll the cable channels like AMC, ESPN, etc.

got you. but from there, you can only watch what is live on the channels subscribed to via sling, right? I wasn't sure if the channel subscription through sling allowed you to watch, say any food network show on demand through that channel's roku app if you miss it live. or does sling get you live tv only without a dvr? not sure if I'm explaining that well. thanks.

Sling allows you to watch shows on demand on a limited basis.....so not really on demand. They rotate what shows show up in the on demand selection area. So one day your show may be available and the next day not.

I'm on this path right now; waiting for the amplified HD antenna to arrive...
For the OP, the only thing I'm finding annoying about Sling on Roku is flipping between two channels. It's kind of awkward, unless I'm missing something.
