Veterans are solid and so are healthcare workers who step it up during a pandemic. It’s OK that people appreciate both.

They signed up for it and got paid. No extra admiration is warranted.
If it doesn't mean anything to you just take the day to drink some beer and eat some barbecue or whatever floats your boat. It's no skin off your back and the day does have a deeper significance for some.

Some of you act like gratitude or admiration costs money.

We have a holiday already to support their services. It’s called Labor Day . . .

Shows how frickin ignorant some people are.

MANY of us were DRAFTED. I didn't ask for it. I didn't even want to go.

And the pay. About 1/3 of what I got the first month back in a civilian position.

I don't give a ratzazz if anyone doesn't appreciate me serving 2 years in infantry but try to at least learn what you are talking about before writing some dumb shite like harmdealer.

Would even the most virulently anti-union robber baron try to get rid of Labor Day now?

99% of the Republican party would riot in the streets

I’m sure . . from Department of Labor website:

quote:

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

I picked up some litter yesterday. Can I be a hero too?

Okay, but not all jobs include heroism within the job description. So we still need a day to recognize everyday heroes over welders and the like. I mean welders fulfill an important role but the workers at Rouse's braved the coronavirus to make sure I could get meat, bread, produce and soda.

There's got to be a comedian in every crowd.

Ya know comedians are heroes too now that I think about it. You have to be #BRAVE to get up there and #SpeakYourTruth.
