Should've disciplined it and trained it better as a kitten rather than being a shitty owner and cutting its fingers off.

And cats can find their way back from a bunch of miles away (if left in a live state at the drop off point).

Get a scratching post and coat it in catnip. Every time the cat scratches is, give it a treat. Every time he scratches something else slap it and yell at it.

I had a cat scratch skyscraper damn cat climbed it to look out the window and to look for his new place for cat scratch fever. We tried the catnip also he just likes the feel of leather under his claws too much
