You mean Armslist?

ETA - armslist, bayou shooter, and LA sportsman yes, but firearm ads on craigslist usually get whacked pretty quickly as I believe it is against their terms of service.

Ah, admittedly I haven't purchased one off Craigslist since 2009 or so. Didn't realize they decided to prohibit it, thanks for the info. But as you pointed out, there are many many places to easily purchase second hand guns.

If they really wanted a gun what's stopping them from going to the hood and buying one out of Tyquell's trunk?

Nothing, but it would give the cops one more Avenue to throw a DV scumbag in jail, maybe before they use the gun.

I'd be careful at calling someone a scumbag because they got a DV charge. That's point here on this thread - there are a lot of trumped up charges.

Should Convicted Domestic Abusers Have *Legal Access to Guns? by LSUwag
Justice Thomas raised an interesting question. Does a misdemeanor conviction warrant the permanent suspension of a Constitutional right?

I say no. There is no due process given to these people in these frequent cases.

This will be a 4-4 decision where the lower courts decision will stand.

Perhaps related, possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor in La. If you're otherwise ok to have a gun, a fleck of pot in your pants pocket will subject you to a felony facing 5-10 yrs prison if you have a gun.

And there are plenty of legitimate ones.

One of the two cases under review in this discussion involves a drug case.

The Court has been very strong in recent years in support of second amendment rights.

I wonder how Justice Scalias death will effect that.

My perspective is that if you've done your time for a crime and are no longer on any form of probation or parole, you should get all of your rights reinstated without further delay.

Meh, more often than not, the perp is a POS if they've laid hands on someone in the household.

I would go back and qualify my post to include that there should be a process and review of the case before any gun disallowance. An appeal process too.

There are just too many cases where a guy gets out on bail or bond and goes and murders his ex or wife.

Wouldn't that be covered by general rules regarding felons?

Depends on crime committed IMO

uhh....they can't. when you fill out a Form 4473 to buy a gun, they ask you if you've been convicted of a misdemeanor of domestic violence. if you check yes, the employee can not run the check and you can't buy a gun. even if they miss it and run a check, it will come back as a Deny.

Since I dont think anyone actually read this.

Any adult free to walk the streets should have full right to keep and bear arms.
If they have committed a crime such that they can't be trusted with a gun, they should be in jail.

Yes, anyone that has paid their debt to society should have the fundamental rights of an American.

It has to be on the final conviction and not just charges is what I am saying. Some of the cases I've seen where the dude is charged with strangulation or impeding a witness where it was nothing more than catching a shirt collar getting his keys back or telling her that she shouldn't be calling the cops because he took his phone back.
