Can you not think of a single teacher you had in HS that you would've trusted to be armed (if you were going to school in the current climate)?
That’s not particularly relevant if the idea here is that any teacher who wants to do it will have the ability to (including the ones I personally wouldn’t trust with a gun).
It is relevant to the comment I was referring to. The poster made it sound like he couldn't think of any teachers in his HS he would've trusted to be armed.
OTOH, your statement is not relevant. The reasonable and thoughtful suggestions I've seen re: giving teachers the capability to be armed in the classroom are much more complicated than you suggest. Such policies would require a detailed manual of policies/procedures approved by the school board, adequate training (including training for gun handling, threat assessment, gun retention, non-lethal options etc) and multiple layers of approval by school board, principals, etc. It would be a lot more complicated than "the idea here is that any teacher who wants to do it will have the ability to." It's certainly not something to embark on lightly, but I think it's one of many good options that should be looked at. I know of a number of teachers I've had (or my kids had) who I'd be comfortable allowing to have this responsibility.

Those same teachers probably wouldn't want the added responsibility and training necessary to be armed. An effective principal, policy and administration could avoid the things you fear. Can you not think of a single teacher you had in HS that you would've trusted to be armed (if you were going to school in the current climate)?
Any teacher I could think of, would eventually have their gun stolen by a student..
I am not joking, something as valuable as a gun. It wouldn't last a week. Depending on the type of gun, someone could go sell it on the street for $200-$300..

Stolen gun, lost guns, intimate rubbing between students and teachers.....Some of you guys need a new set of teachers..... There are a number of maneuvers that would be a part of the training and policies that would maintain a gun from being stolen, lost, etc.
