not having ever been to Jonesboro I am intrigued as to how a convenience store could be such a cultural icon of the community. Is there something special about this one? Like does it also sell deer feeders and mud flaps?

If it's the ONLY convenience store in a one horse town or the best store location-wise, then it will be busy for sure, regardless of what Mae and her minions said to a handicap customer.

Surely, there's some locally owned little dive store that processes deer & makes deer sausage, burgers, chili for footlongs & such. If not, someone is missing a golden opportunity there. I love going into those little dumpy places for the local flavor when I'm traveling.

Oh, yes, definitely. Forgot about the Powerball thing, and also forgot to buy any tickets & went too late last night to purchase them. I don't play it, so didn't realize you must buy the tickets before 9 p.m., so no doubt, those would've been the winning numbers.
