What I got out of this story is that apparently his group of friends are in the habit of doing pretty fricked up pranks to each other. I mean the guy thought that a shark biting his leg was a prank at first. Then his friends thought that his telling them there was a shark in the water was a prank. I guess it's just one of those groups.
