I'd definitely be watching those cells passing over Franklin now if I were in the Baton Rouge area.

Yep. Keep an eye just west of the current BR area rain. That rain might leave a little destabilized channel to focus the next round of cells.

ole Jay Galle was saying since the lake is flat it would get those storms really "spinning up", i interpreted that as strengthen

I just drove through some crazy wind on I10 near the New Orleans airport around 11:25. Would not surprise me if it was a small tornado.

Is this going to have much of an affect on the Lafayette area? Or is it mainly to the east?

Conditions across S. Louisiana are becoming more favorable for tornadoes. Thing to remember is that the current environment, high shear and low cape, is different than what you typically consider to be a classic setup.

lulz at all the private schools closing in Lafayette. not to mention most let the parents know only 30 minutes in advance. it looks like we wont even get one bad storm come through now.

Laffy will likely get some severe weather, but the worst will likely be east of you. BR is about the western edge for the highest severe potential.
