we are witnessing many catholic schools converting to non religious charter schools. Lots of literature out there about this.
WTF are you talking about? What Diocese is this?

you can wear wigs, weaves and extensions at public schools?

Which could definitly be against this school’s code.
Her hair on the other hand...not sure why anyone would have a problem with it

My kid goes to the same catholic school I went to and they still have prayer every morning and afternoon, religion class daily, Mass every week, prepare the 2nd graders for reconciliation and first communion.
Not sure where you're seeing that catholic schools are being converted into non-religious schools.

This is truly sad.
How about this scenario. What if a black girl gets extensions, making her hair long, straight and “bouncy” like white girls hair?
They gonna tell the black girl that she can’t have that?
If black girls aren’t bi-racial in any means, or don’t have “good hair” as they call it, they are very limited on the types of hairstyles they can have. Outside getting extensions or relaxers.
Now black girls with extensions are gonna be subject to Code Noir laws and wear Tigons???

When I first saw this, I thought it was going to be some non issue turned into a racial issue, but honestly I think what the school did was a bit overboard.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with that girl's hair. I was expecting some kind of fricked up ghetto hair do (based on the title). It seemed like a normal hair style black girls wear.

My kid goes to Catholic school too. Every year at parent orientation they send a form home with us that parents and students all have to sign and turn in that says we've read and understand the school handbook. That handbook has an entire section dedicated to uniform/dress code, hair styles, jewelry and accessories.
I went to a Catholic school for 4 years in grade school. Actually, I hated going there, but some of the dress codes were a little overboard.
When Vanilla Ice was popular I actually got lines in my hair like him and had to go home because of it..
I think the dress codes for the girls was always an issue. Sometimes, at the beginning of the school year, girls would have dresses that went right under their knees and by the end of the year, if a girl grew during the school year, and her dress would be right under the top of their knees they would make a big deal out of it and parents would get pissed because there would be like 2 months left in the school year and they would have to go by new dresses.. Instead of waiting til the end of the summer, in case they grew a little more..
One time I couldn't find my school belt (which was navy blue so I put on a brown belt and got punish work for that. They were petty with a lot of their codes.

You asked the question in a way that implied that all weaves/extensions looked like something Nikki Minaj would wear.
If that wasn’t your intent, I apologize. Just want you to be aware that they don’t all look like the pics you posted.

but black females have different hair texture than white females. You can’t just wash-n-go unless you want your stuff to start breaking off.

That's fine, but it's a shitty policy that basically targets the black girls.
I didn’t want to read 7 pages so this has probably already been brought up, but when I was in catholic school they had a rule about no facial hair. Most of the black guys got out of it because they claimed they would get ingrown hairs. Sometimes a policy affects one group more than others.

He has shaved in the morning and been threatened by the assistant principal before the day was over with disciplinary action.
Your son's hair grows back fast?
If so, the assistant principal was being petty as hell. There are guys who, if they wanted to keep their face completely shaved, they would have to shave twice a day. Unless they are attending something important, I think there is no problem with a guy not saving for 2 or 3 days is acceptable.
Some people will say "it's about being disciplined". Kids need discipline, but I think it is a bit ridiculous if they are punishing kids.. if they don't have a completely shaved face.
