Last summer I had a guy come to our store/range and he wanted to know if we were interested in purchasing a SAW. He said he got it from his time in the military. Did some research and found out that only two actual military SAWs are legally owned in the US. Owner told him to leave the property and never come back. Did not actually see the weapon. I might have bought it on the side.

Why not use the 240 instead of the SAW (249)? The 240 is also 7.62.

I have experience with both platforms but never messed with a M60. The 249 is a blast to shoot and is real easy. The 240 is a lot less mobile but obviously has advantages over the 249 when it comes to ammo type and distance. Both can be mounted, but all our chinooks down range had 240s on each side ready to lay down hate if needed.

Our Company had an entire platoon that rocked both 240s and 249s and the first off the bird when it landed were the two 240 gunners, so at any given time you had 240 gunners in the rear and two from the bird. Good times!

Good point. Can tear stuff up and not much heavier than a 249

SAW was after my time, but humped a LOT of miles toting an M60 and put a metric shite-ton of rounds through them. Extremely reliable and consistent shooting (unless you overheat the barrel)
