Sadly, the days of buying a fridge and expecting it to last a decade plus are gone. You will be lucky to get more than 5 years out of a fridge now. The same goes for hot water heaters, you use to be able to get 10+ years out of a heater. Now you will be lucky to get 5. Which is why when you go buy one now they only give it a 5 year warranty.

Samsung appliances are horrible for reliability. Their TVs and such are good, but stay the F away from their fridges, freezers and washing machines.

About 8 years ago we went to Lowe's to get a new fridge. Told the sales guy I did not want one with a water or ice dispenser on the door. Dude looked at me like I was literally insane. Paid $600. Runs like a champ. Yes...i grab ice out of the freezer. Nothing to break.

I have a GE refrigerator and have had it for 20 years. One thing has broken on it. The ice maker.
What was the manufacturer of the ice maker to be when I pulled it out? Samsung.
