You do realize they fly "patrols" all over the northern hemisphere, right? Just this past 4th of July they flew within 10 miles of the California coast. The fact their targets in the Syria raid were only 600-800 miles from their bases means nothing about how far they can reach.

Alert the press! You do realize that they've always done this? This is nothing earth shattering and has absolutely nothing to do with their capabilities as it does their geographical location.

I'm fully aware they did this sort of thing for decades until the collapse of the Soviet Union. They started back with these "patrols" only a few years ago. I only mentioned it because you were discounting the distance they traveled on the bombing mission to Syria as though that mattered in any way.
As for capabilities, I'm quite aware of what they are capable of doing with their strategic bomber force.

Vietnam era. They used to roll daisy cutter bombs out of the back of C 130's to clear landing zones in the jungle.
