I'm on St. John currently, actually posted on the travel board a few weeks ago looking for suggestions. This place is incredible. My advice is to not even worry about St. Thomas, other than to get a jeep and get to St. John. We got in yesterday afternoon, got to our villa, and then headed straight up to The Windmill to have drinks and dinner. We hadn't been there 20 mins and saw a proposal during sunset. If you love your gf and want to marry her, this is possibly the best proposal spot I've ever seen - I might start with that.
Other than that, it's a paradise. We had an incredible day just riding around in the Jeep and hitting different beaches. We're taking the ferry over to Jost tomorrow to go to the bars in White Bay - put that on your list as well.
As someone who's spent about 30 hours on St. John, the only thing you won't like are the grocery prices. This is a special place.

So, you travel so often that you suggest a Puerto Rican rum when visiting the VI?
I don't think the VI rums are that bad.

spent some time there 20 years ago, wasn't much romance, just a bunch of drunk boat captains taking advantage of $1 beers and $2 bottles of rum.
Definitely check out the BVI's and hop the ferry over to St John. Wife and I have always enjoyed spending time just cruising around without plans, hitting local dive bars and restaurants, as much as we enjoy a fancy "romantic" place the hole in the wall places can be just as fun.

Holy shite! Is that place still there? I visited it about thirty + years ago. Bushwhackers for everyone.
Not only is it still around but Foxy is still around. A buddy was down there last week and chatted with him.

Just go to Grand Isle. Stay at the Hurricane Hole. Eat there and maybe go to YumYums and the Starfish.
Go to the beach anywhere you like.
