quote:
A. Would he be confused why his statue is even in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana?
Since New Orleans was conquered by the Yankees and treated very poorly by them during and after the war, I think he would understand why it's citizens would want to give the Yankees the finger!
quote:
B. Having been as intelligent as he was....he had to know that someone would probably make a statue of him at some point...and further down the road people would want to knock it down. Do you think he would really care?
Intelligence aside, Lee was a very humble man and would have been surprised that having failed in protecting his state and nation from foreign invasion his countrymen would still honor him. But, Lee was human; having his statue removed for such a racist reason would upset him.
quote:
C. Did he feel remorse for joining the CSA? I know the answer is going to be that he was just defending his state of Virginia.
No. His only sin was loosing.
quote:
Just trying to make myself feel better about all of this.
Statues of George Washington would have been taken down if the British had won the War of 1812, and the morons who caused these statues to come down have no elective political future outside of Orleans Parish!
