Gen. Washington won and obtained independence from British rule. An enlightened document was later produced as the charter of this great nation.

Had the Brits won the war of 1812, I guess your latter statement (of hanging military and political leaders) should be true. Wars have consequences, whether you like them or not.

Germany didn't like the harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles. They were overwhelmed with debt, and elected Hitler, who rejected the treaty and built a navy and army that started ww2. Should Hitler's statue he displayed around the world for this achievement?

Update-

Apparently there's a mistake in the old Virginia records.

There were two John Lee's born and died in Virginia at the same time with only a couple years difference in the birth and death dates. One of them was Robert E Lee's great uncle (Light Horse's uncle). The other John Lee was my great great great etc grandfather. Both John's born, lived, died in the same part of VA just a few years apart. Mine lived longer, fwiw.


Going back a few more generations to England, there is still no relation found.

Oh well.
