Even though it's Fiction, Guns of the South is a MUST read book for civil war buffs. It's a very interesting story and even though it's far fetched (well impossible actually) it makes for an excellent read.

Basically The South is gifted with advanced weaponry. (namely AK-47s)

For Non-fiction "Clouds of Glory" is my favorite.

You better get all of them that you can before the SJW Gestapo collects them up to burn them in "anti-racist vigils."

I finished this a month ago, thank you for the recommendation. Excellent biography. Lee is, was, and will always be an amazing commander and greater person. Highly recommended.

I'm reading PGT Beauregard by T. Harry Williams now which I find to be much more critical on Beauregard than many biographies I've read. Williams cuts him up pretty harshly at times. Still very interesting biography.

William T. Sherman and Ulysses S. Grant are two of my favorite Civil War generals. Anyone know of any good books on them?

My Statues: Have You Seen Them? Reflections on a Pagan Cause was a great read if you disagree with the tenets of the failed confederacy.

The Flood book was really good.

I took a class on him in college. It was a private study with 4 other students and the professor. Some interesting things that came from it:

He was almost without sin. He's the only student to ever go through West Point without a single demerit. Before or since.

The only immoral choice that we determined him making was with his wife. She had MS and was bound to a wheelchair. Her doctor told them pregnancy was dangerous for her, and that they shouldn't have more children. He kept impregnating her anyhow.

He fought so poorly at Gettysburg, that historians even now can't fully grasp it. Ray Charles could have won that battle by just letting Longstreet do what he wanted. Pickett's Charge on the 3rd day wasn't a gamble, it was suicide. The entire 2nd day was a boondoggle, too.

None of his daughters (three?) ever married.

Less than 250 different people have ever slept in his house. I am one of them.
