I tried to get a good look as I drove by today, looks like the slide is 25-35' from the edge of the structure.

Yes, I wonder if the cause is faulty or failed bulkhead due to water intrusion from the river that allowed that to happen or if the damage is due to pressure on the soil from the weight of the structure. If that is a contributing factor, they could be in for a long road ahead. They also might not have coverage under the condo's insurance...

I wasn't impressed with those when I looked at them, but didn't think they'd collapse.

I can't think of any reason, other than negligence, for those condos to be on shallow foundations.
