So once he realized his career was over he decided to move to the Northshore to die? That makes him an icon?

Go to bed, brah. You're in the wrong place at the wrong time. I love Harry Connick, but he didn't write and sing the motherf*cking Popeyes Chicken theme song. In New Orleans, that's about as iconic as it gets. Dr. John played on Professor Longhair's "Go to the Mardi Gras" and "Big Chief" - two of the most iconic songs in New Orleans history. Everybody from New Orleans knows "On a Mardi Gras Day" or Dr. John's version of "Iko Iko." You get the picture...or at least anyone with a functioning brain does.

So a drug dealer and pimp that went to prison then fled New Orleans in the 60’s is going to overshadow Leah Chase?

Mac also played with Sonny and Cher and other musicians.

Scoot’s show will probably be dedicated to him tomorrow. I can’t wait to listen.

Hold on. Miss New Orleans doesn’t actually live in the listening area of New Orleans??

Well, if their songs are still being played around here 30-40 years from now like Dr. John's were played so many years after he wrote that stuff, then I would say that would make them iconic in New Orleans.

I moved from BR to Metairie to help the 90 year old parents.

I don't have a radio except in my car which I just explained... I do Sirius XM and even then I don't listen much.

Too much BS and too much of the Dudley DeBossier/Morris Bart type commercials.

It's been forever since I caught WWL online. Are they still doing what seems like a 3/1 commercial time to programming ratio?
