So a drug dealer and pimp that went to prison then fled New Orleans in the 60’s is going to overshadow Leah Chase?
That’s about right
That's right. If you don't like, too goddamn bad.

Dr John is a fricking LEGEND!
You must not know much about music.
Reb, of course he’s a legend. No one is arguing that.
My point was that he put New Orleans in his rear view mirror when he left back in the 60’s and very seldom did he look back. New Orleans can claim him as a hometown hero but he didn’t feel the same about New Orleans.

I don’t really care which New Orleans icon they decide to name the circle after as long as it’s not Chris Owens.

Met him once. Truly a unique personality. Sorry to hear this. Helluva musician. He was Sonny and Cher’s arranger during their heyday. When he was a teen he’d sneak into African American jazz clubs to listen. Soon he was sitting in with them.
Desitively bonaroo!
yep met him a few times when i was younger - outstanding dude...

That’s debatable
But I digress.

Harry Connick Sr.???
More likely Jim Garrison.
Harry Sr. wasn't DA until the early to mid 70s.

Second Line for Dr. John starts at 4:00 p.m. at Kermit Ruffins' Mother-in-Law Lounge.
Surprised Kermit didn't set the time for 4:20.

So once he realized his career was over he decided to move to the Northshore to die? That makes him an icon?

Everybody got to die someday.....even Dr. John.
