Boots can be trash for several reasons. Being 10x the cost of Dr Martens and unwearable would make boots trash in my opnion as well.

The JR soles alone were $250 so consider that when he prices them. However, they are going to last twice as long or more than other soles. What Steve was going to do was turn that $350 shoe into a true $500-600 shoe.

Steve likes his Indies but he also replaced the soles, installed a midsole, made a real stacked leather heel, and gave the boot a $500 upgrade.

For the guy who has the 2012 pair, not surprised they work for you. From what I've read, the Indys a decade or more older are made better than those today.

yeah my Irish Setter boots(red wing brand) were heavy as hell. My legs got big huge stomping around all day in those damn things. I think I had to pay close to $300 due to my super wide feet. Hard to find brands with 13+ extra wide

Problem for guys like me who wear E is those brands like Wolverines don't have E's most of the time. That means Allen Edmonds, Alden, and Grant Stone. Some will make EEE but that is just too wide.

I have a set from the 1990's that are Made in England. They are just rough shoes for yard work these days but they are still holding together. A new set wouldn't last a year.

He tore down some doc Martin's. His opinion was the old ones from England were good but the Chinese ones were crap.

However, Grant Stone has a pretty good rep but made in China. The owners are American shoe guys. Watched a video of them talking. Seemed like they cared alot about quality control.

The build of Asian boots are off the charts. Not that I don't respect the "buy american" mantra that some of the hipster boot people have.

Just notice them wearing designer jeans/jackets/shirts while pimping buy American

bespoke Cleverley Oxfords

The shape of the toe on a Cleverly Cap toe oxford is close to design perfection to my eye.

just saw the price. Yikes. But it is bespoke. I get it. Friend went to London and while there, visited Crockett and Jones and ordered a bespoke pair. Said most comfortable shoes he ever had.

Cleverley has ready to wear, which are comparable in price to other high end shoes, including Alden. I like Crockett and Jones as well - Ben Silver catalog used to carry those, not sure if they still do.

My Tractor Supply store brand boots are nearly six years old. They're getting worn down at the heels but besides that they're fine.,
