Oh it's been monuments all along causing the crime in Nola? I really hope the monuments never make it to the Northshore.

Typical Liberal response in defense of his agenda.

This guy must not have got the memo. Caution: extremely graphic (man beaten to death with glass bottle in Chicago)
You wont see this on CNN

What's so amusing is that Mitch's "constituents " all believe he did this for them, their ancestors. What they don't understand is that like all Democrats, he's just using them to establish himself in the upper ranks of the Democratic party, specifically in D.C. They honestly believe he is anti Confederacy when this is all bout Mitch himself, his career now that he's finished in N.O. and La. It's actually sad as opposed to being amusing but this is the history of the Democratic party, thus it's their fault that they still cann't see what Mitch did for what reasons.

This was not about race. This was not about the Confederacy.
This was about Mitch saving his political career at all cost even at the detriment of destroying history, dividing the city and changing NewOrleans aura.

...what's his next move to add to his legacy?
As part of his dubious, growing "legacy," he's got more work to do to validate his assumed role as "the great apologizer." There is at least one more pressing opportunity for him to display penitence for his own past actions.
Even though he's already apologized profusely about voting for the Confederate Battle Flag license plates when he was in the Legislature, so far, no mea culpas as yet about the fairly recent additions along Rampart Street.
Specifically, the new light poles put up along Rampart St from Canal to Elysian Fields, done with his approval, each one of which has the Confederate Seal at the bottom to commemorate the time that the city was under the Confederacy, along with a "rider and horse," and the Latin quote Deo Vindici which translates to "God will vindicate us" - the rallying cry of the CSA.
Lots of transgressions against the pandering liberal psyche in one unsettling package on every one of those light standards. So he should address this as soon as possible, since he was the main player in why they exist.
Lots of "cultural/historical cleansing" yet to be done here in advance of the highly anticipated Tri-Centennial Celebration of "our history."

Have already signed the petition Sec 84-31.
But as goes HB 71, we have a problem in the person of John Alario helping his new lord/master John Bel avoid a very uncomfortable situation of having to explain why he couldn't sign the bill were it to pass the Senate.
Alario did it by incorrectly assigning the bill - for the second time - to the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee chaired by Karen Carter Peterson, effectively killing it - again.
And he did it - twice - with no regard for the Legislature's rule that such historical preservation bills are to be assigned to the Education Committee.
Along with the petition, there is an effort afoot to prevent Mitch from violating the City Charter by arbitrarily extending his stint as Mayor, after this year's mayoral election in November, all the way to the Summer of '18, just so he can say he was "mayor" during the Tri-Centennial.
The entitlement here is pervasive and of long duration.

He couldn't have just given them to the Confederate Memorial Hall?

Alario is postponing this bill as long as he can.
Our governor is going to have to make a decision on where he stands in this.
Meanwhile, what is Landrieus next legacy saver.

Just cut state funding to the city. Once you stop the flow of money it's over with.

I think what Landrieu is thinking is that if he can make a lot of noise to gloat about the four being removed, that will shut BLM up about Andrew Jackson.
There will be open warfare over Jackson. That statue is the face of New Orleans.
