And the detour takes you up to Texas Flat Road to near Picayune or MS-43 into Picayune proper. You have to take that detour in Bay St. Louis thanks to the security around Stennis.

What are you talking about?

Stennis is in between I-59 and I-10

If you want nice things reform the tax and legal code, crack the unions and deregulate.

Or you could do things that would actually help financially, like shut down a few of the 20-30 universities this tiny broke state insists on funding.

Union membership in Louisiana is less than 4% of wage and salary owners.

So sure, take their jobs away and with the couple million dollars the state will save every year you'll have enough money to build that bridge in a couple centuries.

Or you could deregulate all the way and just chop down some cypress trees nearby and build a wooden log bridge.

What’s so wrong with the bridges? They think if cars drive over them they’re going to collapse into the river?

2. Objectively false to say it’s closer to the Sunshine Bridge.

Two of the three remaining options intersect Hwy 1 21 miles from the Sunshine Bridge and 19 miles from the Horace Wilkinson bridge, and the third option is another mile or so closer to BR. So, you are right, it will be closer to BR by two miles however...

I haven’t seen anything saying they intend to build a loop around Plaquemine?

All three options are south of Plaquemine (an astronomically stupid decision). LA 1 splits going thru town and the speed limit is 20 mph with numerous lights. It can not be widened thru Plaquemine due to historical buildings/Plaquemine being Plaquemine and already has significant backups at rush hour. The only thing dumber than building a loop west of Plaquemine is to not build one. If you do indeed build the loop, it will add at least 5 miles to the distance. If you do not add a loop, I can not imagine the backup that will take place trying to get thru Plaquemine.

Personally I think they should build it in Addis

100% better than south of Plaquemine.

Personally, I believe they should've built it next to the existing bridge. One would handle east bound traffic, and one west bound. Spend all of the money required to widen LA 30 and LA 1 (and the Plaquemine loop?) and instead spend it on a few flyways and obtaining right a way from I-110 along the Florida Blvd to Airline to I-12 corridor and construct a 10(?) mile limited access freeway in that corridor. It would be a nightmarish few years of construction, but it would drastically alleviate traffic on I-10 from the bridge from the bridge out to the split and on out to the Airline/I-12 exit as the majority of thru-city traffic would take the new route or at least have two very similar in distance option in getting thru BR.

Totally agree. And I'm sure my idea above would piss off a lot of people as well.
