You mean to tell me the fierce warrior tribes who had been attacking each other for thousands of years (after wiping out the previous inhabitants) attacked another strange tribe that showed up out of nowhere?

Yes they were all lovey dovey but commies commies. Their system failed and almost killed them all until they gave it up for individual effort and then had so much to celebrate.

It must be nice having rose colored glasses

you sir are full of firewater. South texas to Denver is about 1050.8 miles and my fastest run was 21 hours with two speeding tickets. There is no way a horse could that in ""a day or so"". Maybe a week

A bigger, more powerful tribe moved in. Nothing new here, or on any continent.

Not sure why anyone would feel the need to apologize for being part of the winning tribe.

Yeah. Seems far to me too. I will look it up at some point. It was a crazy short amount of time though.

Edit: horses run about 25-30 mph. 1000/25=40 hours. Also Denver is northern ish Colorado.

Book talked about the Rocky Mountains which spans the entire state and further south into New Mexico.

I believe it’s doable on a horse in a straight line but probably not as far as you’re picturing.

I didn’t really catch how they are changing horses though unless they are just snagging them off the plains or knew were they were hanging out. If you ride a horse to death you are left with a lot of walking to do.

A five year old snatching an injured man up through inertia also seems incredulous to me as well but whatever. I don’t spend that much time on a horse and I didn’t write the book.

Im just relaying what I read.

Comanches were a smaller people who were excellent horsemen and ruthless violent warriors was my take away.

(I think they started domesticating horses that escaped from the Spanish and got really good at it.)

I was all hopped up on the fire water when I made the initial post and when I read a large portion of the book.
