She went to Southeastern and she isn't a nurse.

What are you talking about? Most every nurse I know (including me) wears their stethoscope around their neck like that

How long you been doing it?

Is it just there as a tape dispenser?

Have you ruined the tubing yet? Sweat makes the material crack over time.

My entire nursing career (15 years). I've owned 3 Littmans. I don't wear it around my neck my entire shift....just when I'm rounding on my patients or when I'm gonna to actually need it. On my floor more than half the kids are in some sort of isolation so I can't use my own stethoscope anyways and have to use those horrible disposal ones that feel like they are gonna pierce your eardrum.

And my neck isn't sweaty.

Also....I don't work on a telemetry floor so I don't need the $200 cardiac Littman.

Their $50 one is just perfect for what I need it for. Always cracks me up when I see new grad RNs with their really expensive stethoscopes. Those things are heavy and it's gonna suck when they get lost.

I've lost a stethoscope cause a doctor borrowed it from the nurses station without telling me and never returned it. I would have been pissed of it was an expensive one.
