Ok, I work from home and I'm worried and have no friends in Delta.
Also, Finland isn't a country, more a state of mind.

Finally had some time to scour the main reddit thread. Apparently a known NSA worm is to blame for this and all I patched windows systems up to 10 can be effected.
Although this has not been customer impacting as far as telecommunications are concerned. Those hospitals are in a world of shite right now apparently.

It amazes me that major corporations like FedEx and whoever you work for are vulnerable to this. The patch was released two months ago.
That and most EDR solutions will also stop it from executing. If my law firm has the money for an EDR solution, I don't see why these massive companies don't as well.
Of course then again, most people don't take cybersecurity seriously until they take it up the arse like companies are today.

Centinel I work for Nokia.
Most of our Intranet IP addy's trace from Finland. I literally can't even log into Pandora on my company laptop because Pandora apparently has some embargo on that country.
I do agree though that this should of been taken care of well in advanced, but we are notorious for rolling out inter-office communication slowly. We also have a lot of labs that have local nets.
For instance my lab is configured for local use but does have an assigned IP address to the actual public internet to connect VPN to TMO/Veri/ATT networks.

What exactly is ransomware and is it acquired the same way as other -ware crap?
Posted on 5/12/17 at 9:39 pm to saint tiger225
Ransomware encrypts your files and holds essentially a key to unlock said files. You pay bitcoin to an address in order to get the key. Sometimes you get the key sometimes you don't.
If you don't pay. The disc is essentially erased.

I kind of figured something like that bc of the name.
Man, some people in this world are just fricking shitty. What a shitty fricking way to make a living.
