Don't let these assholes scare you off.

Some hidden gems for food: The Cottage, BJ's, Robbie G's, Oriental Wok, Critics' Choice

We're trying to revitalize the arts scene - Lagniappe Theatre puts on great productions.

There's Tamp 'n Grind coffee and Finnegan's Wake pub for night life

Either Louisiana Athletic Club or The Courtyard to work out

It's actually an alright little town; I've come to appreciate it more since I've been in BR most of the time.

Another good thing is it's proximity to the crown jewel of Louisiana voted best small town in La. Ferriday, La. It is just a short drive to the NE on 28 and a right on 84. It is simply a must see. You can make a day of it and see all the sites.

Top shelf is not far from you. It's a dry through liquer store with a small bar to sit in. Spirits is a really cool place. Doesn't feel like you are in Alex when you are there. Tunk's has good food. Has an oyster bar that has live music and sits on Kincaid lake. It's about 15 minutes west of town HWY 28 west.

Most of the men's leagues are in pineville. At a complex called "Wardville" they do softball there. And they have a basketball league that plays at Emmanuel Baptist church. I know there is a flag football league just not sure where they play.

There is a lot to do outdoors. Good fishing and hunting and lots of places to water ski/tube or whatever.

As far as night life, there are a lot of bars but most of them are small and have their crowd of regulars. There are two casinos 30-45 minutes away. Paragon is nice has good shows. Coushatta casino is in Kinder. 45-1hr down HWY 165. DONT SPEED. Woodworth is a speed trap. All the little town along the way will pop you though. There's not a lot that just presents itself. It's all about what you make out of it. Good luck at the new gig.

Edit: also the bars are smoke free.

If you go out to lunch during the day, give Brocato's a try. Cafeteria style and not far at all from your apartment. It is delicious.
