Questioning authority

Good thing, bad thing? What do you think?
I'm not talking about blatantly calling a supervisor out. Just simply suggesting other options/solutions/strategies other than that of the supervisor or other authority member. Is it bad or is it good to bring other ideas to the table?

If your supervisor isn't willing listen to you (the subordinate) I wouldn't worry. He will fail on his own eventually.
But it is a good thing to bring about suggested changes in a respectful manner at the right time & place.

Yes it is a good thing.
But choose your battles carefully or you'll be labeled. Also, look at the leadership of your organization - are they open minded go getters or is promotion based on longevity and not rocking the boat?

Yes but do so in private. Otherwise it could be taken as public criticism by the authority figure and lead to your termination.

That is key. It's not what you say it is how you say it and how you represent yourself. Nothing wrong with it if the intention is to truly make improvements. If it is just bucking authority for the hell of it then I would let it go. Nothing but bad comes from that.

It's a good thing if the result helps the organization and it's not solely to benefit the employee who makes the suggestion.

Been doing it my whole life. Ever since 3rd grade, when teachers started lecturing me about it.
My advice, as one who does what he believes and says frick authority if it is wrong, be prepared to pay the consequences. I do stuff my way and it has consequences. Jobs, jail, all of it. So be prepared to accept and pay the price if you want to take your way all the way.

Depends on the situation and your position.
Understand that the authority usually knows bigger picture than you. If you're the SME though than that is what you are there for. The leads need your input.
Yet again though, consider big picture before you open your mouth and make yourself look stupid
