So I live in an apartment complex and cable is part of my lease, as in I am not responsible for any cable bills. I recently had a cox tech come out because I was having service issues. Today I check my mail and I have a bill for $82 from Cox, call them and they say it’s because of the tech service. I tell them I am not responsible for any bills regarding cable as it is included in my lease. After much discussion they finally waived the charge. So my question is: am I right to have had the charge waived or should I have been responsible for the charge?

Also: inb4 trashy/not OT baller because I live in an apartment

Youll learn to shut up when you get something for free or it's offered.

And that’s what I told the cox person, but she said “yes they pay the bill but any in home services are your responsibility” to which I replied that’s incorrect

Regardless of who’s responsible for the cable bill...why the frick are they charging you a fee to come out because you were having service issues? I can see being charged a fee to install a cable line in a room/area that didnt have it before, but I’d complain about being charged a fee for them to resolve a service problem.

One more reason Cox sucks. I’ve had U-Verse for about 5 years and had to get AT&T to come out twice for service issues. Showed up on time and fixed the issues and never even tried to charge me for it because it was problems with their equipment and lines.

I have a place in the warehouse district and Cox is provided through the condo. You have to call the Condo assoc and they call cox because of the contract. If you call Cox you get a service call

nope, you are responsible for the charge, IMO. If the complex holds the account and pays the bill to Cox, then you do not have the authority to order services on that account.

If there are problems and Cox needs to be called, then the complex should be the one to call to request service and not you.

Another prime example of why I cut the cord. Pure and simple, Cox sucks. They pull that kind of shite because they know 90% of the public won’t question it or fight it. I got news for those assholes, all I hear on the street nowadays is how many people like me are fed up and moving to streaming services like I did. Trust me, their days are numbered. Cable Karma’s a bitch.

Comcast is good for football season, where I may up to 4 HD Cable boxes & TVs in my Den.

I've had up to 8 TVs, with 4 OtA; but, find 3 optimal.
