Question about donated money to schools

There are many cases where the descendants of a person or family who donated money to a school, later on sued for a return of the endowment or some form of relief.

Hardin-Simmons in Abilene may be in the news over a student video but they are also undergoing a battle with a prominent family. The great-grandfather of the family served as university president and is interred on campus, and his grandfather and father also served as trustees. Now one of the descendants is suing to have the family name removed from campus buildings and for the remains of the great-grandfather so he can be buried elsewhere. The family member is upset over the closure of the school's seminary (H-S is Southern Baptist) and the trustees appear to be unwilling to reconsider.
